Laurence Picken was a scientist who developed a passion for collecting and documenting musical instruments, in particular in the Middle and Far East. He gave his magnificent collection to the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge. Here, in conversation with Dr.Carole Pegg, he describes the origins of a particular Chinese musical instrument.
